The job of a teacher is more important than we think. Actually, teachers have an influence on the student's individuality and on the new generation. Teaching is not just making students know how to solve Mathematics problems, it's about preparing them for the future. If the Educational system is good and teachers are passionate about their job, it's obvious that students will make a difference in the future. In other words, teachers are responsible for the development of our society.
At 8 a.m. teachers must be in school before students. When the class starts, the most difficult job of the teacher begin. They have to gain the attention of sleepy students using strategies like telling jokes or explaining interesting things that are "cool" for students. The job of the teacher is not just in class, they have to plan for future classes and correct exams. Actually, teachers have a lot of administrative work to do like monitoring students in the cafeteria. They also have to be available to help students after the class and to communicate with parents.
Most teachers work in primary or secondary schools.
To become a teacher, you must complete a certified Bachelor of Education program which takes 4 years after finishing college. This teaching diploma will help you to teach in secondary and primary schools. In the fourth year, you will receive a training which will give you experience in teaching and help you to develop your competencies in class.
In 2020, according to Emploi Quebec, the average salary for a teacher in secondary school is $40 for an hour and for a teacher in elementary school is $37,93 for an hour. Every completed year of teaching increase the salary, on average, $2000 a year.
Teachers could have training to be able to familiarize with new technology, specially during the lock down. Teachers are trained to do courses online and to records several videos. Also, teachers can have a conference with expert in education to know new effective strategies for teaching.
Teachers can be a victim of violence and bullying, especially in secondary schools. They could receive several forms of harassment via Internet which could lead to anxiety and depression. Teaching could also have bad impact on the body, because of sitting or standing for long hours.
It is difficult to replace teachers by robots because students, especially young learners, want to interact with a human that can adapt the explanation to their way of understanding. Teachers will be glad if robots could correct all of the exams in a couple of seconds.
After 20 years of teaching, you will have had changed a generation of responsible citizens that will change the world with new ideas. You can retire at 55 or 65 years old and have a good free time to enjoy life.
All in all, teaching is an important job for our future that's why I'm interested in teaching. Currently, I'm studying in Science, profile Biology and Health, and I will do a Bachelor of Science and Technology Education in Secondary to be able to teach science in secondary schools.
