They are the first people who arrive of a scene of an accident or sudden illness. Their job is to give care to heart attack victims, car crash victims, gunshot victims, and poisoning victims. They even assist in childbirth. They transport the victims on a civil ambulance and bring them to the hospital the faster way they can.
First of all, they got a call from the dispatchers, and they tell who have an accident and where, what happened and their health. After that, the paramedics take their vehicle and prepare what they will do and the stock they will need. They take the road, and they go where the accident is. Then, they take care of the victims and if it is needed, they bring them in the hospital. So, if you are a paramedic you will work with nurses, police officers, firefighters and so much more.
In general, a paramedic’s day starts out by inspecting their rig and making sure they have everything they need for their shift. After everything is inspected, paramedics stay at a standby point waiting for calls. The standby point may be at a hospital, fire department or other location. Once a call is dispatched, paramedics drive to the scene. Upon arrival, medics make sure the scene is safe and then immediately perform a rapid assessment. Depending on the patient’s condition, care may involve administering medication, starting intravenous lines or performing CPR. Additional care may include stopping bleeding, applying splints or delivering a baby. Once the patient is stabilized, he/she is transported to the hospital. One medic drives the ambulance while the other one remains in the back of the rig monitoring the patient’s condition. After arriving at the emergency room, paramedics give report to the emergency room doctor about the patient’s condition. Then it’s time to restock, clean the back of the ambulance and return to the standby point and wait for the next call.
Most paramedics are working in the metropolitan areas. They are more common in the small cities, towns and rural areas. I think the advantage of working in a small city is that you have fewer emergencies than in the big cities. So, the disadvantage is obviously the opposite because if you love to have a lot of work you will be sad.
Formal training is offered by technical institutes, community colleges, and facilities that specialize in emergency care training. At the EMT-Basic level, training includes instruction in assessing patients' conditions, dealing with trauma and cardiac emergencies, clearing obstructed airways, using field equipment, and handling emergencies. Formal courses include about 100 hours of specialized training. Some training may be required to take place in a hospital or ambulance setting.

In conclusion, on Winter 2023, I will have finished my Springboard to a DCS and I will have no choice to choose a specific program. Paramedic is my first career choice, so I will try hard to be accepted. If I'm not, I have a lot of other options like nurse. I just want to help people and change their lives. I want to have contact with humans, it is really important for me.
