If they are counseling psychologists, it's almost the same as the clinical psychologists, but they will work with less severe problems. There's also the experiment psychologists that do research.
Psychologists work in an office almost all the time. Some do research on labs in centers and others do naturalistic observation.
There are two types of psychologist: Ph.D and Psy.D. While the Psy.D will take you to clinical of counseling psychology, Ph.D opens all of your doors in the field, and that's why it's the most demanding and difficult degree. If you want to be a clinical or counseling psychologist (Psy.D), during your training and before you complete your degree, you'll be supervised while having meetings with your clients. On the other hand, you have to do a minimum of two years of study and one-year internship to have a master’s degree.
A clinical and counseling psychologist have an average salary of $81,330.
After your degree completed, you'll be in the obligation to have another year of supervised work. Also, if you want to work with clients, you will have to do an exam to be licensed and to be recognized in the state.
One of the biggest dangers of being a psychologist in my book is the fact that clients may be dangerous if they don't like what you offer them, and they can become aggressive.
I don't think it's possible for robots to replace human psychologists because it's very important to have a connection with the clients and the robots don't have that capacity.
Like all of the other careers, the age of retiring is between sixty and sixty-five.
I'm currently studying Psychology in Cegep and directly after I finish my college studies, I will go to a university to continue my career to become a Psy.D. After all these years studying I will be able to become a psychologist like I have always wanted.
