Hi! My name is Carminda Maria, and I am a student at Ahuntsic College. I have been studying Cinema for 1 and a half years now. Learning about Cinema has been really enriching for me. I have seen lots of movies in my life and I have always wondered how they make them. Behind the entertainment industry of Cinema is an important history that explains how Cinema was born. I had two courses about that. My program is mostly concentrated on the making of a movie. There is writing the scripts, manipulation of the equipment and computer editing. This environment increases the teamwork spirit.


What is it like to be cinema-producer?

It is really cool to be in Cinema, but I have to admit that sometimes it is exhausting. The shootings are long. They can take days, weeks, and months. Being a producer involves lot of work. The schedule can change at any time which means that the work hours are often irregular. There is a strong possibility to work at night and on weekends. Sometimes the producer can be overwhelmed because of the workload.


What do cinema-producer do?

Depending on what the producer's role is, the tasks can be really different. In general, it involves finding the appropriate scriptwriter for their movie, hireling the director and cast members, approving locations, organizing the production schedule as the budget for the movie.


Where do cinema-producer work?

A movie producer mostly works in a studio. Sometimes, he may have to travel. It all depend on what the story is about and where it takes place. The producer has to be sure everything rolls well, is delivered on time and whiten budget.


How can I become cinema-producer?

To become a producer, you shall start in college, university or film school. The courses given by the institution focus mostly on a script development, shooting schedule, manipulating the equipment and budgeting. Obviously, the more you progress, the more the workload will grow.


How much money do cinema-producer make?

The average annual salary for a producer is around 110,000. Depending on a producer's role, some of them can make more than that of even less.


What are the dangers of being cinema-producer?

You have to be extremely organized. Directing a movie is not always easy. Everything has to go perfectly well. The movie has to be delivered on time.


What are the chances that cinema-producer will be replaced by robots soon?

I don't think that robots will replace cinema producers. It is better when one fresh mind is in charge of directing the movie. The robot's mind isn't always clear. It is very important that everything is clear. Cinematic language has to be employed. Lot of things can change while the shooting of a movie. The robot might not be able to adapt himself to the situation.


What age do cinema-producer retire at?

There is no age. Some producers do what they do for the rest of their lives because they love it.


Conclusion

At first, people were invited to come to the theatre. There was no producer. A magic lantern would project still images on the wall while the barker would animate. People at the time were amazed by that experience. It was the very first taste to Cinema. The evolution by that time to today is huge. With a today's technology, it is possible for the auditory to watch movies with a good imaging quality. Which way sounds more fun? The antique way or the modern way?
