There are fashion designers that are doing ready-to-wear and the most known are doing Haute Couture. A designer has the control of all the production and the conception of his designs. Today, a lot of designers are claiming injustices through their creations.


What do designers do on a typical day?

In a day, a designer has a lot to do. He must do research of the new trends and makes prediction on the future trends. He has to draw his creations. He has to visit manufacturers to see the samples of the fabrics to choose what fabric is better for which designs. After this, he has to create a toile on models to have the perfect fit. One's done, he must do a teck pack and send it to the pattern-maker to have the patterns for the realization of his creation. After the production, he has to show his new collection. It is important to understand that all these steps take few months to be done.


Where do designers work?

A designer work generally in a workshop. It depends on if he works for someone else of for himself. Sometimes, he has to travel.


How can I become designer?

To be a designer you must do studies. It is important to know all the basics before working on the industry. You will have more facilities to do contacts and make your place. But the key is the work and the contacts you have to motivated and persevering.


How much money do designers make?

It depends, if the designer works for an unknown brand, for a popular brand or if he is the designer for his own brand. He can make $69,000 more or less.

It is a must if the designer has study in fashion business. It can help him to start correctly his own company and to manage the money.


What are the dangers of being designer?

This career can be very unstable. Especially if you are a designer beginner. If you have your own brand, you can have problems with money and with the production, so your company can go bankrupt. If you work for a brand, the hours a long and your tasks can change every day.


What are the chances that designers will be replaced by robots soon?

The chances are lows. The big capacity of a designer is his creation. A robot cannot have a lot of creation as a designer. But, all the steps of the production can be, one day, make by robots. And maybe, during a fashion show, the models will be robots.


What age do designers retire at?

It depends, if you are your own designer you don't take retire, your job finish when you die or it is you that decide when you want to take it. If not, it depends on for who you work for.


Conclusion

I'm currently studying Fashion Design. I have one more year left before working in the industry. But I want to continue my studies in Paris, in Fashion Business to have more knowledge on the industry. My dream is to be able to build my own brand and to my own designer.
