Basically, a police officer will patrol the city, help citizens when necessary, they will look out for suspicious activity, they can interview and interrogate criminals and offenders, they often investigate crimes, for example, homicides, theft, or financial frauds, they write reports and do paperwork, they maintain the civil order and report crimes and irregular situations... Those are all examples of what a police officer can do on a typical day.
Depending on where your police station is situated, you will patrol on the area of that specific station. Normally, a police officer will pass a big amount of time in the patrol car looking for anything suspicious or where they can help. The other part of the time, will be anywhere a police is wanted in their area. It can be at the house of a victim, on the high way and in the street for example. Finally, a police officer have some paperwork to do. Because of that, they have to return to the station and complete them their.
In Canada, Quebec, you have to complete a "DEC" (diplôme d'étude collégial) in Police Technology, that's three years. After that, you have to go to "Nicolet" (the police academy) for four mouth. Finally, after those approximately four years, you will be ready to become a police officer. Don't worry, it's a lot of study, but it will be worth it.

It has to be a human that does this job. There is nothing like thinking that a policeman is just about calculation. It's about having emotion and thinking about the emotion of the fellow humans next to us.
Normally, a police officer retire after 30 years of service. Depending on what age you start this career, you will retire around 50 and 60 years old. This job will make you become more mature, responsible and thankful for living on this planet. Being a policeman means to see the things that 90% of the population will never see.
