By analyzing certain criminals, a criminologist would then try to understand why the criminal acted out. They can prevent a crime from happening, increase the chances a criminal being arrested, and they can predict motives since they have an idea of what some criminals think and behave.

At the begging of your career as a criminologist, you would most likely do a lot of computer work, and collecting data. It may not be as interesting as you would have hope but it's just the beginning. The reason you get these not so fun task is because you don't have a lot of experience in your field of work. After a few years into your career, you gained more experience hence you would be able to analyze the data collected, have discussion about the cases and the results with your colleagues. You will also start working in the field, meaning that you will be able to interact with people, go visit a crime scene and much more.


Where do criminologists work?

Criminologists can work in different places. They usually work with the Police Department or law enforcement agencies, such at a local agencies and federal agencies.


How can I become a criminologist?

To become a criminologist you must go to college in a Social Science program for about two to three years. Then, you must go university for a bachelor's degree for 4 years. Then, if you want you can get your master's degree and doctorate degree in criminology. It is a possibility to study in another program such as Psychology, Sociology, criminal law and much more since it is related to your future career in criminology.


How much money do criminologists make?

The salary may vary depending on where you work, the amount of experience and the amount of studies you put in. If you just have a bachelor's degree, you will most likely make less than a criminologist who has a master's degree and a doctorate degree. What kinds of additional training do criminologists need?

The additional training that a criminologist needs is that it's recommended for them to have major in Psychology, Sociology and much more other programs since it's related to their careers. By having that knowledge it will help them improve their skills as a criminologist. They also should also know how to properly do a research, write reports, being good with statistics, have excellent organization skills, writing skills and also be able to interact with other human beings.

Being a criminologist can be a dangerous job. The dangers of being a criminologist is that you have to work with a lot of criminals. You never really know how the person may react. The felon may act aggressive or may act violent towards you. You also have to be careful with felons you encounter because they can mentally harm you with insults and much more, or they can even try to harm you physically in order to escape if they find it possible.


What are the chances that criminologists will be replaced by robots soon?

The chances are very low. It's unlikely that a criminologist would be replaced by robots because being a criminologist means that you have to interact with humans in order to understand as to why certain people decide to act out and commit a crime. It is also a way to prevent some crime from happening again.

That depends on the criminologist. It really depends on how they feel. Do they feel that they have accomplish enough their work of field? Do they feel ready to leave their job and relax? They usually retire around the age 55 to 65 years old. Criminologist can also retire before if they want.


Conclusion

To sum it up, I'm currently on my 4th session in Social Science: The Individual. I'm graduating this fall semester 2021. I'm going to university to pursue my dream career which is becoming a criminologist. My goal is to get a bachelor's degree in Psychology since it's very useful and is related in the work of line for my future career and then get my master's in criminology. This is a career that's very interesting because you never know what can happen in your day as a criminologist.
