You can learn a lot each and every day because law is very large and you can help people with some problems all the time.
A lawyer's work is defined by advising certain clients on legal matters and sometimes, if the client needs it, advocating for them in court. This is a very large definition of what attorneys do because they do a lot more. For example, they need to search a lot in different legislation, or they need to find jurisprudence and doctrine to be able to interpret the law.
A lawyer will do a lot of things during a day. He will meet with his clients and advise them. He will also negotiate to settle disagreements. He will analyse the law and represent their clients in Court. Finally, the will also write many legal documents.
There are actually a big variety of places where attorneys work. First of all, you can work in a private cabinet. This type of practice as some advantages, but two of them would be the fact that they can control everything, and they can work in peace. Then, some lawyers work for the Government. They usually work in bigger offices, but they have more social advantages. After that, you have the Social Policy Agencies. Some of them are related to the Government, which means that you also have social advantages. Finally, attorneys can work for businesses. Normally, these lawyers have a bigger paycheck than attorneys that work for the Government.
First of all, In Quebec, you need to go to the University and do at least a 3 years, which is called a bachelor's degree. After that, you need to go to "L'École du Barreau du Québec" for 1 year and pass the final exam. After that, you're free to find yourself a job as a lawyer.
The salary for an attorney can depend on a lot of things, like the experience but also the place where you work. The average salary for a lawyer in Montreal is $86 000. The lowest you can get is $55 000 and you can go up to $134 000 and even higher if you work for a big company or a big private cabinet.

It is true that sometimes, clients of certain attorneys, especially in criminal. Also, the job can cause mental health problem because attorneys need to work a lot and has an ultra-competitive professional culture.
There are not a lot of chances that robots will replace attorneys because it is a job that you need to be in contact with humans. There is less than 5% chances of that happening.
There is not an actual age for the retirement for lawyers, but in Canada, it is 60 to 65 years old for almost everybody. It depends on what career you got.
