Paramedic

Introduction

If you ever thought of being a paramedic, this article is for you!

What is it like to be paramdic?

Being a paramedic is awesome. You can help people and make a change in their lives. It is fun but also really intense, depending on the patient.

What do paramedics do?

In general, paramedics take the ambulance to a specific address which the computer they have in their vehicle gives them. Then, they take their stretchers and equipment to the patient's house to give them treatments they need, depending on their conditions when the paramedics arrive. Paramedics are there to help the patient's condition and to bring them to the hospital.

What do paramedics do on a typical day?

Paramedics arrive at work and are being assigned to an ambulance. Then, they have calls and different cases all day through their computer. They help patients and give them specific treatments, depending on the patient's condition. If the patient wants to go to the hospital, paramedics will drive them to the hospital. After every shifts, they have to clean everything and then go home. Unfortunately, you never know when you truly finish.

Where do paramedics work?

Paramedics can work in different companies like Urgence-Santé, SPLL, CETAM, Ambulance Demers, etc. These are different companies in which paramedics work.

How can I become paramdic?

To become a paramedic, you apply in college in a technique. It is a three year technique in which you will learn all the different treatments and techniques the paramedic has to do every day.

How much money do paramedics make?

The salary varies across the country. In general, paramedics make an average of 55,000$ per year.

What kinds of additional training do paramedics need?

It is important to be trained in the different area of the job like the medical and the traumatic part of the job. Future paramedics have to study three years in college to be fully trained. If you want to become an advanced paramedic, in which you have bigger responsibilities, you have to go to university to learn more treatments, medications and techniques.

What are the dangers of being paramdic?

The dangers of being a paramedic are that you never know what is coming or who you are going to encounter along your way. It is dangerous because you never know what is going to happen or if the person is armed. A paramedic does not have a weapon so if you are in danger, you can't do anything, beside calling the police.

What are the chances that paramedics will be replaced by robots soon?

Personally, I do not think paramedics will be replaced by robots soon because it is important that all the treatments should be good and paramedics have to think a lot and be logic. Robots can't do that and are machines. It will be difficult to adapt the robots to every patient because the patients are all different.

What age do paramedics retire at?

I think that after a paramedic retire, they have regrets if they were not able to save someone's life, but they made changes in other lives they saved along their path. A paramedic can retire in their 60s or 70s if they are physically and mentally strong enough. This job is difficult for the body so it is important to stop when you cannot anymore.

Conclusion

Personally, I only have one year left of college and I cannot wait to start this job. I want to make a change in the world and I want to save people. It is my goal to succeed and to graduate. I cannot wait to be a paramedic and to do the things that I love.
