Photographer

Introduction

If by any chance, you are interested in starting a career as a photographer then this is exactly what you need.

What is it like to be photographer?

Like any job, it can be wonderful just as it can be painful. Most of the time, there are plenty of ways to express yourself because it is a form of art. In the end, I would say that it is commonly very personally fulfilling.

What do photographers do?

Taking pictures for a job are one thing, but it can be way more than this. In fact, there is an immense variety of things you could photograph and reasons to do so. We can begin with a photojournalist, who will have some journalistic background and travel locally or around the world to give images to media back home. You could be a commercial photographer, and your pictures will end up on ads. There are also photographers who are specialized in portraits. They can be, by example, taking pictures of weddings.

What do photographers do on a typical day?

It always depends on what type of photographer they are, but they definitely are not always taking pictures. A lot of time is spent planning the photo shoot itself with the customer and then editing the photos.

Where do photographers work?

A lot of photographers will have their own studio, where objects and people can be photographed in controlled environment. Others, such as photojournalists, will be outside all the time, and even abroad. Some can do a mix of both, depending on their contract and what they are paid to photograph.

How can I become photographer?

There are different ways of ending up as a photographer. You could study in arts, where the most technical and practical skills necessary will be taught to you. Then, you could go into an internship, where you will work with other photographers who will help you develop your talent. On the other hand, some do not have such a journey. You could be self-taught and become an autonomous worker. What you will always need is talent, and a lot of time spent to accumulate the most experience possible.

How much money do photographers make?

There cannot be an exact number to say what is the salary of a photographer. There are probably some very rich photographers and others who are broke. Some work in a corporation and others have their own company, and the range of money they make, although it is probably average, can depend.

What kinds of additional training do photographers need?

Photographers rarely any kind of training. Once they have mastered their camera, there's nothing much more to learn. They can still train their eyes and work on their composition, but overall, any technical training is easily done.

What are the dangers of being photographer?

For most photographers, there are not really any dangers. But for photojournalists, it can be pretty dangerous. By travelling around the world looking to capture images of events, they might come across life threatening situations. There is a risk when photographers go photograph natural disasters, dictatorial regimes and war zones, and some do not return

What are the chances that photographers will be replaced by robots soon?

The chances are pretty low. Photography relies so much on instinct and arts that a robot could probably never replace them. The message in a photograph cannot be understood by a robot and that's why photographers will probably stay the only ones who can do such a thing. Although artificial intelligence can edit photos, the soul in a picture can only be from a human photographer.

What age do photographers retire at?

Whenever they want. Some will start another career while others will continue all their life. It is basically just like any artist.

Conclusion

Although it is not my career plan to become a photographer, I practice it as a hobby. This will still let the door open to a potential career as a photographer because we never know. I hope that if you plan on becoming one, this has helped you.
