To be a Physical Therapist is like to be a little angel to people who suffer from physical problems. You're the hand that will help them stand up and go back to their normal life. You will make great connection with your patient, because in this profession the relation between professional and patient is the key to success.
The Physical Rehabilitation Therapist is an associate to the Physiotherapist. To take care of a client the P.R.T need a diagnostic made by a Physiotherapist or a doctor. With the necessary documents the therapist can do evaluation of the patient that will help to make a specific program of treatment for the client. The P.R.T can do different types of treatment such as manual techniques, electrotherapy, hydrotherapy and heat therapy. He can also give exercises that the patient will do at home between the session. The P.R.T can help people with the musculoskeletal system, neurological system, cardio-respiratory system and a lot more.
The day for a P.R.T starts early in the morning because he will have a lot of patient. Before having his client, the T.R.P will organize his schedule and prepare the place to receive his clients. The T.R.P will have a patient per hour. In each session, the T.R.P can do evaluations or treatments and explain exercises at home. He will have his dinner break and in the afternoon other clients. At the end of the day, he will finish his paperwork and go back home.
The P.R.T can work in the public or private department. We can see them in hospital, CHSLD, CLSC, Private clinic, rehabilitation center. We can also see them in sport center and in sport team.
You can become a P.R.T by doing a DEC at any Cegep that gives the Physical Rehabilitation program. When you finish you program, you will need to become a member of the OPPQ to get your official title of Physical Rehabilitation Therapist.
It will depend on where you are working and your seniority but you could make between 22 and 31 dollars an hour.
They don't need it but if they want to give better treatment or work in specialize center, they can have access to training class that will increase their capacity.
I didn't find information about that in my sources, but my teacher from Montmorency always say the ergonomics of our body are as important as the one for our client. We have a manual profession, so we can also injure our body if we don't respect healthy posture and movement.
I don't have information about that in my articles, but I can say that a robot cannot feel the emotion of someone and it is very important to know if your patient is feeling good physically but also mentally.
