More and more, the country lifestyle is becoming popular in Canada. If you want to know anything about farmers and their lifestyle, well this article is for you. It will bring you knowledge about the amazing job and lifestyle of being a farmer. For five years, I am working on a milk farm and I fell in love with the routine and the animals. I now want to make this job a part of my life. So, I want to share this hubby with whoever is interested in it.
Farming is not just a job, it is also a way to live. Most of the time, it is a familial environment where joy and fun are parts of it.
Depending on the specialization, farmers take care of animals in order to produce good an essential food and thereby feed the population. Others maintain fields to collect food like wheat, corn, oat, etc.
On a typical day, farmers wake up at six o'clock to feed and clean the animals. After, they collect the animals' products. After the morning routine, they work on the mechanic of the engines, and they go in the fields. Finally, they repeat the morning routine in the end of the day. Like you can see, it is a complex job that requests a lot of effort.
On a farm and in the fields.
There is no legal need to become a farmer, but it is preferable to do some courses to improve the knowledge. There are techniques that are give at different college and there are also DEP that you can do.
Farming is not a job done for the money because farmers don't do a big salary apart a few. The average salary is $45 000 in Quebec, but it depends on the specialization.
The most important training that farmers need are the management training and the biology training. They are essential for the well-being of the farm.
Like I said before, farming is a really demanding job. It is easy to collapse in front of the big work if you have no help.
There are a lot of engines and robots in this work, but you will always need the maintenance of someone because robots can not do everything.
Farmers do not retire, they just slowdown when the relief comes and quietly takes the place of them.
To conclude, I am presently finishing my DEC at the Collège Lionel-Groulx and next year I will go to the University du Québec en Outaouais (UQO) where I will do classes in agronomy. After, I will quietly take the place of my father on the family milk farm. For me, it is a passion, and I am exited at the idea of help my family with the animals. I hope that you learned a lot on the subject and that you are now as exited as me!
