What do nurses do on a typical day?

There are several types of nurses. Some of them work during the day, others in the evening and finally some of them work at night. I'm going to explain the day in a life of a daytime nurse. Usually, daytime nurse start working at 7 a.m. so they woke up really early in the morning. The first thing they do when they arrive at their place of work, is to check in. Once they are checked in, they get information from the night nurses. It is during that time that they review everything about their patients and schedule test if needed. It is also during that time that they do their inventory. Then, they start their morning rounds. During that time, they check all the patients vital signs and give them medication if needed. They also help them with any type of task. Then, they have their lunchtime. For a nurse, lunchtime doesn't always happen, most of them just eat snacks to keep their energy up. After lunchtime, it is the afternoon rounds. Afternoon rounds are really similar to morning rounds. The nurses do a check-in to see if some patient have been discharge or if other patient has arrived. It is also during that time that they check if the patient health status changed. Also, during the afternoon the family can visit and the nurses job is to inform about the patient. Lastly, is the check-out. The daytime nurses give information to the night nurse. After that, they prepare for their next shift. That is all the things that a nurse does in a day.

Where do nurses work?

A nurse can work in many places depending on their specialty. For example, private duty nurse works in the patient's home, occupational health nurses work in places that gives health education to the community, psychiatric nurses work in hospitals. After, there is the diploma program that is provide by a hospital or a school and takes three years to complete. Finally, the longest one is given by university and is called BSN program.
