Introduction

Being an actor is an amazing job! It is not easy, but it is still a very playful and joyful job for many. Sometimes, it could be more difficult physically and mentally but, for a role many could start acting like their characters and even start living like them. If you are interested in acting you should definitely read this. This is not about motivating you or at contrary, discouraging you of doing this job. This is to inform about the good and the bad things in acting. Acting as been a long part of my life even with the difficulties, writing this article could help others knowing what they are going for before jumping in the job.

What is it like to be an actor?

Being an actor is not always a part of pleasure. It looks sometimes easy to play some characters and some roles, but many people are doing many sacrifices to have or play some people in series or movies. Being an actor is a very unstable job, except if you already parent of family in the acting world it will be way easier for you to start a career in this world. At the same time, if you want to start acting but don't have any contacts you probably couldn't start a career as easily as you would like to start. In the same way, if the salary of an artist who does play in big productions is not always the best salary. Many actors need another job to survive in our economies.

What do actors do?

Actors are doing, most of the time acting. The name is simply saying it, but other times some events are getting added to their acting jobs. Red carpets, events and Oscars are some events most of the actors could go too. In those events, they have to look good, provide their acting skills and sometimes, provide the series or movies they are playing in. It is also very important for actors to go to the before premiere of the show they have played in before the series or the movie gets relist. Being an actor is, most of the time, about talent and good-looking in public.

What do actors do on a typical day?

All actors days are different. If they are in day off they could go shopping, pass time with their families or just live their life like anyone would do it. Some other actors are who are getting ready for their roles could be isolated to stay in character or could train for the physic and mental of their character. Actors also have to pass auditions for some other roles so sometimes this is what their day could look like, waiting to pass in an audition room with other people. On set, everything depends on the director. They could use motion capture or spend most of the time on a makeup chair to look like their characters. After all those installations and costumes, it is time to film and this could take a lot of time, days, to months, to years.

Where do actors work?

Actors don't have specific workplaces. Some studios are set up to motion capture or green screen capture but some scenes could be played in public places like in the Spiderman movies. Many directors want their movies to be as realistic as they can be, so they will play in abandon places or in places that already exists. Acting does not have a specific place, if you have the material to do it you can act everywhere you want to with authorizations.

How can I become an actor?

There is no good or bad way to become an actor. Many of them could go to acting school to try starting a career as an actor. For some others, it could be easier if they start young. Many actor kids are conserving their place as an actor and are becoming more and more popular with time. Everything depends on you or motivation, engagement and skills as an actor. Participating to contests and auditions is the best ways to become an actor by these days.

How much money do actors make?

Depending on how popular the actor is, the salary is not a stable one. Very popular actors like Jenna Ortega or Tom Holland are getting millions just for them to play in a movie. Most of the time they are also the principal characters of the movie or series they are playing in. This is why the money they are giving is very high. For some actor's salary is not even an option. Many people will start by doing short movies to get known better before getting to play in a real show. Sometimes, it means that they are not even getting paid to act in those things, they are promised some visibility, so they could get known by the public before trying to do some bigger acting things. This is why actor salary could go from zero to many millions of dollars.

What kinds of additional training do actors need?

Actors don't always need additional training, for some of them, acting is just natural, but for some others, they need a bit of help and training. Some schools offer acting programs to help students who want to go acting be better actors. Articulation classes and learning how to move correctly on stage are some additional training that can be really useful for a future actor! Many other techniques like, musculation, acrobatic and makeup techniques could be also, sometimes, good things to learn for actors.

What are the dangers of being an actor?

Being an actor is way more dangerous then we could think. First of all, if you are an actor who likes, to do some risky scenes like jumping around and doing acrobatic stuff, well, this lead to a risk of getting hurt badly if there are some accidents or, if the figure is not done correctly. Also, while getting more popular, actors are getting more fans and those fans could get dangerous if they are blinded by the status of the actor. Paparazzi can also be a very dangerous part of acting when you start to become popular. Some of them don't know the meaning of a private life and could follow the actors to get photos of them. Even if it looks like a wonderful job, acting is not the safest job in the world.

What are the chances that actors will be replaced by robots soon?

It depends, if we are talking about robots like those we are sending on other planets then, I don't think so. Their movements are not as good as humans one, and they don't have any emotions so emotional scenes could be more difficult to play for them. Somehow, if we are talking about AI, yes, actors could be in great dangers. AI is a less expensive way do make movies and series. It is not perfect, but it is easy to use. Having actors is a good way to provide the anti-robot way, but it is expensive and not just to pay the actors but also for all the costumes, the montage and the backgrounds.

What age do actors retire at?

To be an actor you have to be at least one year old. When some movies need babies they use some kids by the age of one to play them because they cannot use someone younger. For someone that youth you somehow, need the parents accord for their child to play in the movie or the series. Today we are seeing many kids actors who are already really famous, and they will continue to get famous as old as they get.

Conclusion

On my side, I live to act. I've been acting for more than 8 years by now, and I started to do Drag who is also including a lot of acting skills. Going in a different school specialized in acting is going to help me improve my skills as the actor I want to become. I know someday I will be able to play in a theater shows or a movie shows, maybe not a popular one but, this is not an important point for me. Acting is what I want to do in my life and even if it does not pay enough, I'll be doing what I love.
