What is an aerospace engineer? When you work as an aerospace engineer, you build, create, analyze and sometime install components on aircraft or spaceship. If you like creating and searching on how to advance science, aerospace engineer combine all of that.
First of all, working as an aerospace engineer is sometimes a lot of work outside the work hour. An aerospace engineer can work for many aircraft company such as Air Canada to design or even assemble aircraft. In the same time, you can also work for the NASA to pursue the research on spaceships and satellites.
Concretely, an aerospace engineer work in teams to assemble and create high-altitude delivery systems (missiles). There is also a lot of research to do like what component to use and why. During a project, engineers might not always finish the project they started. They can be pulled off just because they finish their part of the job and another team jump in finishing the final product.
The range of activities as an aerospace engineer are pretty large. First of all, you can assemble and create aircraft, missiles, satellites or even communication system in space. Second of all, you can also develop information simulator that goes in space or that fly in an aircraft. In addition, engineers in the field can supervise and coordinates the fabrication or the modification of aircraft or spaceships.
Aerospace engineers are most likely to work in a laboratory to be closed with the product or the project. They can also work in an office to assist the project and to coordinate the other engineers.
Graduating as an aerospace engineer is not a simple task unfortunately. To become an engineer in this field, you have to be selected at a university where they give this program. This program is also contingent and every university only choose approximately 50 students every year.
On average, an aerospace engineer can make approximately $120 000 every year which is the second beat salary in the engineer world.
In order to complete a degree in aerospace engineer, the student need to complete 4 trainees and a minimum of 4 months in a company that will be recognized by the university. During the trainee, the student assist someone who works in the company.
Engineers can face some dangers while working but in this field of engineering, workers don't face any danger because they work in a laboratory or office
The reason why engineers cannot be replaced by robots is that: Robots are not able to take a critical look and think like a human to bring something new to the project.
In Quebec, the average of retire as an aerospace engineer is 60 years old. During his lifetime, the engineer will have made an impact on the evolution of traveling in the space or in the air.
I am now finishing my DEC in Natural Science at Lionel-Groulx College. I am looking forward to send a demand at the University of Montreal in the autumn 2021.
