This article is for the people who are studying Social Science with the goal to be a psychologist later in their life. This article contains the answer to multiple questions that people might ask themselves when they are going to this profession later. I was motivated to write this article because I was in the situation where I was asking a lot of questions to myself about the profession of psychologist, and I want to help others to have the answer way more easily than me.
Being a psychologist is to be an expert of the human mind and the reasons why some people tend to act like this and others a different way. A psychologist is an expert of the mental health and analyse of the human behavior.
A psychologist's work consists of a lot of things like teaching do research, consulting, and trying to understand the human mind, and it's behaviour.
In general psychologist on a typical day do stuff like conducting scientific research, identifying mental health problems, and behavioral observations.
A psychologists can works in a lot of places like universities, governmental and non-governmental organisation. Some psychologists works in place like hospitals, schools.
To be a psychologist in the province of Quebec in Canada you will have to have a DEC to go to university after, and at the university you will have to make a doctoral degree to be able to do that profession.
A psychologist is paid at the higher 77.43$ per hour
The psychologists need to be constantly up to date with training every year to be aware per example of a new study in mental health, or a new therapy's method, etc. They do training and go to conference regularly.
The danger by being a psychologist is the amount of work like the hours per week that may exceed 40-hours-per weeks, these conditions represent the danger of this profession because they can live with a huge amount of stress and an emotional charge.
IA cannot replace a psychologist because the psychologist have an emotional intelligence, empathy, a capacity to analyse and integrate information on a specific person. The IA is maybe useful but don't have any of the criteria that are necessary to replace psychologist's in their profession. These criteria are the reason why we confess to them because we know they have a high emotional intelligence and because they know how human think because they are human themselves and the IA doesn't have any feeling.
The psychologist's retires at the average of 65 years old. The experience they gained during the time they practice this profession is that now they understand the reason that can explain why sometimes we act different or why we feel bad, etc. When they retire psychologists had help a plenty of peoples to understand their problems and how to solve them, they helped people with their mental health.
In conclusion, I study Social Science to be a psychologist later, but for now I am in the Cegep and I plan to go to the university. My goal at university is to be accepted to the doctorate. I want to do a doctorate to be able to get to know my job even better.
