A nurse has a very wide range of activity. They are divided in 17 different parts, which are all more important than the others. The principal one is the evaluation. A good nurse needs to be able to evaluate his patient and find what is abnormal about him.
To start its day, a nurse by taking a report from the nurse before its shift. It gives to the nurse a guide line for its care. After this, the nurse checks the files of his patients to know all that is new about the people he is taking care of. Following this, the nurse does a tour of his patients to do their vitals and asking some questions. He analyses them and take action depending on the results. There principal ways to become a nurse in Quebec. The first and most common one is to go in nursing care technology at the Cegep. It takes three years to have the diploma. The second way is to do a pre-university that takes two years at the Cegep and going for another two years in nursing science at the university.
On average, according to the Government of Canada, nurses make 43,27$/hour. It depends on the province you are in and the position that you have. It also depends on the studies. For example, a nurse that went to the university will normally make more money than a person that only went to Cegep.
Every year, nurses, have to redo some of their formations to make sure they know the latest things about nursing. Also, every time there is a new device one the unit, they need to do a lesson to learn how to use it.
Nurses are exposed to different sources of danger. Some patients can have bad behaviors that could threat their security. For example, if the nurse try do an injection on a mentally ill patient, he can do a move that could lead to hurt him with the needle. Also, nurses are more exposed to diseases than any other worker because they are really close to the patient.
The chances are really low because a big part of their job is to have a therapeutic relationship with the patient and showing empathy to him. For now none of the robots developed are able to do it as well as a human being.
In general, nurses retire at about 65 years old, but a lot of them try to continue to help after. They often do volunteer work to help people in need.
In conclusion, I am in my second year of nursing in Cegep. After receiving this diploma, my next goal would be to do a baccalaureate at the university. Between those two, I could start working on the floor to start accumulating experience.
