It is an amazing job for people who like to travel the world and discover it, you get paid to see what many people pay to see.
They fly a plane to a different city or even country, stay there for sometimes less than a day and sometimes more depending on what is needed by the employer.
They go to their local airport, embark the plane, fly it to another place, and then they can do almost whatever they want while they are there. After that, they fly the plane back and go home.

To become a pilot, you have to go through all the theoric lessons, pass tests, and then you can start accumulating your hours to reach the number of hours needed to get your flying license.
At the beginning, usually they will be paid between 50-100 thousand dollars a year depending on the company. As they accumulate years within that company and flights they will get better salary like 200+ thousand dollars a year, also depending on the company.
They take physical and mental tests to make sure they are still capable of flying planes while keeping everyone safe.
The courses are really expensive and some people end up in debt for a few years in the beginning. Also, if you have any condition that comes while you are a pilot and when you pass the test they say you cannot fly planes anymore, you can instantly lose your job, even for something very minor.
The chances are pretty good, pilots are not doing anything a robot could not do. Autopilots are already a robot controlling the plane for the automated trajectory for the major part of the flights.
Most pilots will retire at the age of 65 most of the time.
Being a pilot is amazing if you like discovering other countries or other cultures, but you have to know there are also parts of the job that are risky and can be scary and hard for someone who does not know them before going into the process of becoming a pilot.
