What is it like to be a farmer?

Being a farmer it works hard on a long period, and this is tough. Lot of people say that but when we live it with passion, it's different. Time go really fast. Day comes an hour, month a week, and one year a month. We work to feed people in the world, and we want to offer a good product with quality. Being a farmer is waking up before the sun in the morning to take care of animals by feeding, treating, loving them. Being a farmer is accepting to have no vacation, low wage, have responsibility and sometimes being dirty too. Being a farmer is learning to be a managing person because there is always something brooking and only having a tie rap or a hay bales rope to fix a problem when your alone in a field. I promise you that be a managed person can save you! In summary, farmers must live their work with a lot of passion because they can have bad and good time in a year, and they can't stop to work because they have a lot of animals to take care and a family too.

What do farmers do?

Farmers have lot of different jobs in their business. They have to take care of their animals, they have to do mechanics, they have to work in the field, etc. But, theirs a part that a lot of farmers' hate, paperwork. Yes, we have to work outside with animal and in the field, but we have a part about management to work in because sometimes, we have to deal with suppliers, vendors, accountant, bank, etc.

What do a farmers do on a typical day?

They start their day with a good coffee at 5 o'clock in the morning, and they go at the farm to see their animals and take care of them. They are going to milking the cows if they have a milking cows production. After that, they are eating breakfast and work in the garage or in the farm or in the field. They are every time something to do. At lunchtime, they come home to eat or if they working in the field, their wife or kids bring them their lunch. After lunch, if they have time, they can do a little nap and they going to work after that. At 4 o'clock they have to leave the field or the garage to milking the cows and after that, they eating supper and going to sleep. Tomorrow coming a new day to work.

Where do farmers work?

Farmers can work in a variety of places. In the garage, in farm, in the field, in wood, etc. The advantages of that is that we can work in different place and this is not like an assembly work, like in the shops. This is a part that we love because we can do a thing when we want, and do what we want.

How can I become a farmer?

Become a farmer is easy to say but not to do. At first, you need to love animals, and take care of them because they take all your time. You can start your day at 5 o'clock in the morning, and just end at 12 at night. This is a really big day, and farmer have to deal with that kind of day all of their lives because they live it with passion. It is not simple to become a farmer but is it possible to work on a farm to try if your're gonna like it. The drive of the work is really different from the city work. You have to like manual work, and don't be afraid to be covered by dirt. If your good with all of this, you can go to cegep in a technical named Farm management and technology or just do a professional study diploma in Animal production at a professional formation school. If you want you own farm, is more complicated, but I recommend to you to go at cegep because they are going to show you how to do your own business plan to build a farm, buy animals and quota.

How much money do farmers make?

Farmer has to deal with a low wage. The salary is not fix, and we have it only at the end of the month. Then, is difficult to invest and do the payments for the end of the month because we always have unexpected thing that arrived during the month. With the wage earned, we must pay the debt of the purchase of the farm and the land, or it will cost a bill of interest. So, farmers have a low wage, and with that, they have to spend a big part in the debt or payments they have to purchase.

What kinds of additional training do a farmers need?

They can go to a professional training school and do a diploma in animal production, or they can go to cegep in Farm management and technology and continue in university.

What are the dangers of being a farmer?

Farmers have a higher-than-average level of anxiety. Farmers are always tired, they work 24 hours and 7 days a week, and at the summer, it is possible to see in the fields' tractor with open lights running and planting. Financially, this another game too. People say that farmers are rich but no they are not, they work really hard to have a little wage.

What are the chances that farmers will be replaced by robots soon?

Actually, some farm have robot to push the hay to cow, to milking cows, to sow the fields, etc. I think robots will never replace human in farming, but it can help and save time. It also a big deal because when it broke, the work stop for the time it took to be repaired, and it cost a really big price. So, it's a subject to think about a lot of time before invest into because it needs to be profitable for a minimum. Then, I don't think robot can replace farmer one day.

What age do a farmers retire at?

Normally, there is no age to be retired when you are a farmer. A farmer transfer is farm to his child who is the most interested and after the procedure, the farmer don't stop coming at farm to help. They decided themselves when they want to stop to work at farm. Farming is a passion and when you are a farmer, going at the farm to milk cow or work in the field is really representative in a life. This is why farmers can stop when they want. Anyway, there is always something to do at farm.

Conclusion

In conclusion, being a farmer is not simple, we do it with passion. We work more than 12 hours, seven days a week. We love our animals and take care of them. Sometimes, we are covered of dirt, but we take a shower and that's it. I almost think that is the greatest job in the world because we are our own boss, we work with nature and animals, and we are free to do what we want, without forgetting our responsibilities, of course.
