Introduction

It is a demanding job involving long hours, difficult and under-funded situations, and occasional frustration. The early years involve a lot of paperwork and phone calls. However, it brings a deep sense of of personal satisfaction despite a high initial burnout rate of 35%.

They conduct a field and lab research, test, air/soil/water quality, assess the environmental impact of proposed developments, writes reports, advise decision-maker, lobby congress, fund raise, and run education campaigns.

Early in the career, it involves a lot of paper work and phone calls. Otherwise, days are split between the field, and the office. It is a job make you do a lot of different things.

They work out in the field, in laboratories, and offices. They are employed by not-for-profit companies, community environmental offices, consulting companies, and governments.


How can I become an?

An academic background is recommended but not starkly required ; people with backgrounds in psychology or economics is also hired. Securing an entry-level position requires passing a rigorous and highly competitive interview process.

Initial pays are limited and the job rarely translate into strong financial rewards, but salaries do increase over the years.

Continuing education is the norm because the profession deals with physical, constantly changing systems.

It as very high burnout rate of 35% in the begging which is likely due to unfulfilled expectations for immediate change. Otherwise, it depends on which part of the world you are working.

The chance is very low. The field offers strong job security because artificial intelligence cannot complete many of their tasks.

There is not a specific age but more than 50% of the scientist is older than 42 years old and are on the road to retirement.


Conclusion

I am currently at the cegep of Sherbrooke in natural sciences. Next year I will go the Sherbrooke University in environment. It is my first step to my goal to become a natural scientist in the future. I will complete my cegep this year, and I will complete my Bachelor and my master degree in 6 years.
