If you have ever thought about becoming a teacher, then this article is for you. Teachers can take many additional training courses throughout their career such as conflict resolution skills, emotional intelligence, cultural competency or technology knowledge that is evolving each year also with the growing role of artificial intelligence.
Some dangers of being a teacher include high stress and burnout from a workload and pressure. There can also be classroom safety issues with, for example, difficult student behaviour with the growing problem of students thinking that they are, for example, dinosaurs and are wrecking the classroom. Also, more in the United States, school shootings can happen and that puts the teachers and the students in big danger.
The chances that teachers will be replaced by robots soon is very low and the main reason is that all the previous attempts to replace them by robots failed because students were not able to connect with such teaching platforms. This is why AI is unlikely to replace teachers soon.
Teachers in Canada typically retire between ages 55 and 65. Indeed, 65 years old is usually considered the normal.
As you can see, becoming or being a teacher can be challenging, but it has many more positive and rewarding advantages. You can make a real difference in those students lives by helping them learn and grow.
