Generally teacher need to be at school before 8 am, they have to create lessons plans for their students, they have to make all these things entertaining for the kids, so they will not fall asleep during class.
When teachers arrived at school, they prepared their class to welcoming the students for another day. All day long they follow their schedule, as if they plan to do French, math, English, sport, and then science, they follow this because the kids need to now what will come after. In their day they typically have to break for snack and of for dinner. Schools are also obligated to have recreation, where kids need to go outside, but it depends on the weather outside. At the end of the day, kids will leave, teachers will tidy up their class, some time they will stay much longer because they will have to do corrections, and after they will go home to restart the next day.
Primary teachers work in primary school with kids aged between 4 and 12 years old.
To become a primary teacher, you need to have a bachelor’s degree in elementary education, it depends on where you study, but it is between 4 and 5 years of studying, but there are other ways before the bachelor’s degree, like in Quebec you can do, a technical program related to education, like Early Childhood Education or Specialized Education or something shorter and more basic like Social Science, and after doing your bachelor’s degree.
In Quebec, at the beginning of their career, teachers will make like $61 000 and after 10 to 12 years it will be close to $100 000. But in California, they will start with $50 000 to $60 000 USD, and after many years they can have $115 000 USD. So, it depends on where you are a primary teacher.
Throughout their career primary teachers will have to do some training to improve their skills, to acquired new information and knowledge. These trainings are generally offer by the school or school board, but the are much-needed to help them to become better teachers over the years.
The big physical danger that can happens to teachers are to be hit by a kid, or that a kid throws something at you, but the bigger danger are on the mental health because teachers are on high risks of burn-out or depression in the firsts years of teaching.
The chances are big because it is already happening in some school in China, the United States, North Corea, but they need to be more and more improve because their some things that robots cannot do, and they cannot feel the students like real teachers can, and it a factor that helps kids to successes at school.
Primary teachers can retire at the age of 60 years old or with 35 years of service in school.
For me, I am now in the Early Childhood Education Program, in my second year on three at the Cegep of Sherbrooke, after my program I want to go to the University of Sherbrooke to do my bachelor’s degree in preschool and primary education, and after I don’t know for now where I want to teach in the future.
