At the beginning of the day, a support specialist will check and review the emails or phone calls that are sent by customers with complaints and by the higher-ups in their departments, as they review them, they prioritize which ones will be answered first based on urgency. Then, they will spend most of their day troubleshooting and assisting customers' with their problems. They type up guides and document each call so that their colleagues can use the information written by them for the next user with a problem. At the end of the day, they make sure each support request is filled and each problem is solved.


Where do technical support specialists work?

IT support specialists can work at multiple places during their work schedule. They can work at home, or they can work at an office. Sometimes, they might even work at call centers that provide help to customers. It all depends on the employer.

To become a technical support specialist, you need to at least get a high school diploma and depending on where you live, optionally get a degree by going to college or university. Gaining certifications can help by a long way to find a job, and it can count as experience on your resume. Another way to gain experience is obtaining hands-on experience like an internship or freelance work.
