Being replaced by online catalogs. It’s rare to see someone visiting a library now. Also, office politics can be a big problem if the coworkers decide to not share what they learn during the week. Sharing is very important in this job. The other danger is to find this job difficult and quitting in the first two years.
It would be impossible to be replaced by robots in this job, because they cannot integrate with other and talk about how a piece of art change their view on life. Robots are not able to do to properly the job of a librarian. Also, librarians are like students; they learn every day about something. Robots can’t be students.
The normal retirement age is 65. You can retire at 55 if you wanted, but it’s an early retirement.
I have to now do my bachelor’s degree at UQAM and do my master’s in library science at UDEM.
