What is a kinesiologist

Introduction

The articles I found are really useful if you think about becoming a kinesiologist. The articles I found are extremely practical because they all show the hidden situations and subjects about being a kinesiologist, studies needed and the salary they make. One of the articles is about what really happens in the day of a kinesiologist and the second one is about all of the regular information you need to know if you consider becoming a kinesiologist.

What is it like to be a kinesiologist ?

I think being a kinesiologist is like being a hero for some people. You have the power to make your patients better by helping them with pain of difficulties. Being a kinesiologist is a bit like being a physiotherapist but more detailed and that covers more aspects.

What do kinesiologists do?

Like it is mentioned in the first article, Alice Bullivant explains that being a kinesiologist is way more than just talking through and giving muscle monitoring. It is also about being a safe place for your patients, filling documents, doing marketing if you have your own clinic, managing the clinic, the patients and also the money for your employees if you have some. Also, kinesiologists establish plans for treatments for the rehabilitation of their patients. They help people with articular problems or hurting parts of their body. Their mission is to optimize the movement of mobility of their articulations.

What do kinesiologists do on a typical day?

Depending on the kinesiologist and if they work in or clinic or own a business, they day can differentiate. For example, Alice Bullivant owns her own business of kinesiologists and have a different typical day than others. She starts her day by taking care of herself and making time for her mental health. Then, she does a digital check-in and looks if she has new booking or DMs. Afterwards, she goes to her clinic and prepare her things for when her clients are going to arrive. She normally has between four and eight clients per day. When she is done with her clients, she does administration, marketing and manage the money. This is her typical day, but most of regular kinesiologist that don’t own a business or a clinic, they give a look at their patients medical files, met their patients and update their medical files after the appointment.

Where do kinesiologists work?

Kinesiologists normally work in clinics of any medical establishments. Sometimes, kinesiologists work form home. In fact, they can open their own medical cabinets from home. It can make patients feel more comfortable since they are in a cozier place than in a regular clinic. They can also work in schools or in the field with sport teams. Kinesiologist can also be seen as physiotherapists, which explains why they can help athletes directly on site.

How can I become a kinesiologist ?

To become a kinesiologist in Quebec you have a few choices of studies you can do. First, you can go to college and study Sciences, and after go to university in the specialty of kinesiologist. You can also go to college and study physiotherapy and then specialize in the kinesiologist program at Uniersity.

How much money do kinesiologists make?

Kinesiologist can make between $40 000 and $100 000 per year. There is a pretty big gap, but it’s because some kinesiologist may have their own clinics, own franchise, work for the public system or others. Not every kinesiologist can take care of the same number of patients depending on if they have kids or other responsibilities. Working for a private clinic or having your own cabinet are the two options that make you win the most money.

What kinds of additional training do kinesiologists need?

Becoming a kinesiologist doesn’t require any type of additional training, but its always good if you already know the bases of the work. By so, I mean that doing internships or working as a receptionist at a kinesiologist clinic is really great to make sure that you like it and to learn the ropes before getting in the system.

What are the dangers of being a kinesiologist ?

There aren’t any dangers in my opinion, but I think that in our economy the salary is not the best if you want to have a house and kids. Also, if you don’t take time to exercise your body, you might injure yourself by doing false movements while helping your client.

What are the chances that kinesiologists will be replaced by robots soon?

I don’t think there are any chances that robots replace kinesiologists, because the great aspect of being a kinesiologist id the human aspect. The one on one moment you have with your doctor is the important moment. I don’t think robots could mimic that human aspect well-enough for them replacing kinesiologists.

What age do kinesiologists retire at?

I think that it depends on everyone. It depends on the salary you made throughout years, on the experiences you acquired, on if you feel satisfied with what you have accomplished and more. I think that if you saved enough money, and it’s safe for you to stop working then you can retire. When you arrive at a certain point of satisfaction, and feel that you helped enough people you can retire. Also, being a kinesiologist also means that you need to use your body a lot so if you wait too long before retiring, your body might force you to because you might not be able to follow anymore.

Conclusion

For now, I am still at college, I only have two sessions left, and I am scared of the future. I really hope I can have good enough grades to be accepted at the university that I want, which is UdeM. I would also love to be successful as a kinesiologist because it has been my ideal job for the past five years. I hesitated between kinesiologist and physiotherapist all my high school, but I finally decided, and I think that it’s the good one.
