In this carreer we design, build, and test systems, structures, or products to solve specific problems. We analyze structures , apply scientific and physics principles. Also we use technology to make productive and safe solutions.
On a typical day, engineers starts their shift by going to a lot of meetings. In those meetings, they review plans and update their data. Afterwards they work on designing or improving a project. Most of the time, they collaborate with other professionals and use specialized software to test and refine their ideas.
Engineers work in many locations, including offices, laboratories, factories, and even construction sites. Their specialization will determine where they work. For example, an engineer who specializes in design might work in an office most of the time, while one who specializes in concrete might be found working in a laboratory.
To become an engineer, you need to receive a bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university and gain work experience under a licensed engineer. In Ontario, you must also pass the Professional Practice Examination and register with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) to become licensed.
