Teachers create their lessons, teach equally to everyone, and then help those who have more difficulty understanding. They also have to correct work and sometimes even provide social support for their students.
Classes usually start around 8 a.m. Teachers must be at school early to welcome students and not be late. They have classes to teach, but not at all times of the day. When they have free time, even when they finish their day around 6 p.m., they take advantage of it to correct, create exercises, and plan their next lessons.
Teachers usually work in schools. It can either be a primary school , a high school, a college or a university. The place they work depends on the level of education they have or which age they prefer to teach to.
The education you have to follow to become a teacher depends on the level you want to teach. For example, a teacher in primary school will need to have a baccalaureate in education and with that BAC you can teach every subject. A person that wants to teach in high school will need to have a baccalaureate in education specialized in the subject they want to teach. A teacher in college needs a baccalaureate in addition to a master in the subject they specialize in. To conclude, a person that wants to teach in university will need a PHD. With that kind of degree, that person can also work in research.
The salary range for teachers varies between 50 000$ and 109 000$. That is the salary in primary school, it depends on the experience they have. For college, it can go up to 120 000$ and in university it can reach 145 000.
Teachers could have training sessions to stay up to date with the best practices in their profession, especially when new technologies, software, or materials are introduced. They could also organize meetings to share their most effective teaching methods.
There are not a lot of dangers of being a teacher. If I had to name one, I would say that if you work with special needs students or students that have anger issues, if you do something they don't like, they could hurt you mentally or physically.
I think the chances of teachers being replaced by robots are very low because teachers are not only responsible for transmitting knowledge. They must also build bonds of support, empathy, and open-mindedness. Technology serves as a tool, and it will continue to do so.
For peoples working in the public sector, retirement can sometimes begin as early as 60, but most must wait until 65.
In conclusion, I am not yet sure what I want to do as a career, but teaching is the one I think about the most. For now, I am focusing on completing my DEC in natural sciences. If everything goes as planned, I should finish by the summer of 2026.
