The salary for a correctional agent in provincial prison was $79,000 in 2020 and in the federal it's between $66,974 to $84,045. You need to know that you can also make a lot of overtime so your pay is probably going to be between $90,000 to $110,000 a year.

There is quite a few things that can make your life in danger. First of all, you're working with inmates that have made violent crimes. You can also get exposed to a lot of disease like HIV or AIDS. You could get killed while working or took as a hostage during a riot.

The retirement age for a correctional agent is between the age of 60 to 65. You're going to have 30 years of service if you want to get a full pension. In these 30 years of service you're going to have acquired Some good skills for your life. You're also going to have acquired a good sense of stress management.
