Becoming a statistician is no simple matter. One must have at least Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics or Statistics, to enter only entry-level positions. If you wish to rise in the profession, you would need at the very least a Master’s degree or a Ph.D. And before considering anything, one must be able to complete the various subjects needed to become one, like mathematics (calculus and linear algebra), probability, logic, psychology, and computer science. But, the advantage of these skills is that you could major in any other field and have a considerable competitive advantage when seeking employment because these skills are sought out by basically anyone nowadays,

In the United States of America hovers around the 90k usd a year, compared to Canada's 60k usd a year.


What kinds of additional training do statisticians need?

Even if you learn in Universities how to use computer models, it is heavily recommended learning at least a coding language. It will give you an edge to the competitions because you'll be seen as more reliable.


What are the dangers of being a?

It takes a lot of mathematics which is not known to be an easy subject and is quite soul draining staying in front of a screen every day for right about the half of the day.


What are the chances that statisticians will be replaced by robots soon?

It'll be replaced to some extent, like every job, but only the manual and repetitive parts of it, like doing the graphs, doing the mathematics and what not, but there'll be always humans in this profession because there is a need to first interpret the data because a robot can only do what has been done, not something that need abstract thinking. And second, humans will be needed to make sure it doesn't misinterpret data, which could be deadly to the companies publishing these data.


What age do statisticians retire at?

Because it is a high end, well-payed job, the retirement age is when the person feels comfortable with it.

Anyway, this job is not for everybody, but to whom it may call, it is a job that is heavily needed and will be needed in the future because of how versatile and impactful it is.
