Being a teacher is a job full of new experiences every day, and you get to meet new students every year. It’s not a boring job because you get to do different activities and try new teaching techniques often.
Being a teacher means you have a career full of different tasks. Teachers have a really important role especially the primary school teachers because they get to shape the minds and educate children. Their role is to create a positive learning environment while also helping the students to grow into responsible adults. In the other hand, university teachers also have a very important role just in a different way because they teach the future generation, the ones that are going to be in charge of the future.
On a typical day, the job of teachers can really varies because they have a lot of different responsibilities for example, they have to prepare their next lesson plans, they have to teach classes, help students who have difficulties in class, they have to grade assignments, they have to provide feedback to the students but also maybe to the parents of their students, they also have meetings and many other different tasks.
Teachers can work in many places for example they can choose to work in a public or private school, they can also choose if they want to work in an elementary school, a middle school, a high school, a college or even a university. Teachers can also teach on online platforms, in tutoring centers, in international schools or even other workplaces.
To be able to become a teacher you must go to university in education.
The salary of teachers changes a lot depending on where they live, but in Quebec the average salary of a teacher is in between $46 527 and $92 027.
A further training that you need to do to be a good teacher is a lot of experience. So, that’s why you need to do internships while you’re in university to be able to have some sort of experience before you become a teacher and then throughout the years of your teaching career, you’ll gain a lot of experience.
Of course, the teaching job can be very fun, but it also comes with a lot of challenges, but I wouldn't necessarily call them dangers. Some of the potential challenges include dealing with particular and difficult students with challenging behaviors. Teachers also have a lot of work, so they can sometimes feel stress and burnout due to the demanding job. So, teachers need to take some time for themselves, find the proper support before they feel too exhausted by their work and find ways to overcome all these challenges that come with the teaching job.
The chances of teachers being replaced by robots soon are very low, because most people need a real person in front of them to help them learn and can't learn properly with online teaching. Also, can you just imagine children sitting in front of computers or robots trying to learn? It would be so chaotic, and they probably won't listen very well if they don't have a real person in front of them who is trying to catch their attention and helping them learn. So, teaching is a really important job that probably won't be replaced by robots anytime soon.
When you’re a teacher you can retire at 65 years old or when you reach your 85 factor which is your age, and you add your qualifying years, and it equals 85, to be able to get your retirement pension.
In conclusion, as you can see being a teacher is a really fun job that only requires a college degree and four years at university. I'm currently in my second year at Ahuntsic College which means I only have to finish this session before going at university in education. Then, Education at university is 4 years long so in four years hopefully I will be able to be a primary school teacher if nothing goes wrong or, if I don't change my mind.
