Sexologists can do different things like, group therapy, couple therapy, solo therapy, and conference. They can work on different problems like overcoming sexual function problems, such as erectile disorder, premature ejaculation, low sexual desire and genital pain conditions. In addition, sexologist are trained to work with sexual and gender orientation themes, relationship problems, couple therapy, sexual abuse, out of control sexual behaviors and infertility.
So, in a typical day they might work with a female client who has never been able to manage penetrative sex and now wants to have a baby with her much loved husband. They might then see a male client who has lost interest in having sex with his partner but is masturbating to porn twice a day. Their third client might be a young man who is struggling with premature ejaculation, or equally it could be a young man who cannot ejaculate during penetrative sex. Their fourth session could be with a couple who have not had sexual contact for several years and need help to get their intimacy back on track. Their final session of the day might be with a client who is sexually attracted to men and women but whose culture demands they marry someone of the opposite sex.
A sexologist works in many places. They can work in schools (elementary school, high school, cage, university), in the health care system, in correctional facility, in community setting like different organism, and they can work in private practice.
You have to do to a baccalaureate diploma in sexology. After the baccalaureate you can to a master degree and also a doctorate.
It is variable you can make from $23 up to $45 per hour. In private practice you can make your own wedges. It could go up to $200 per hour
The OPSQ (Ordre professionnel des sexologues du Québec) has different conference you can attend to. You can get additional training from many organisations.
You may get weird clients or interaction. Many people are misinformed about the work that a sexologist does. That's why you could get weird interactions with misinformed people.
No. We need human contact because sexual wellness is very complex. Because robots are not fully aware of all the different sexual problem people can have, it could be very damaging to have robots replace sexologist.
In private practice you can choose to retire at any age. In the rest of the different organization the usual age is 65 years old.
I am very excited to got in sexology in university next year, I would love to become a sexologist soon and work with sexual delinquent. I think the goal for now would be to work in organizations.
