Police officer

Introduction

If you ever wondered what is like to be a police officer, this summary is made for you! I am a passionate Police Technology student who knows things may not know about this profession. I am motivate to write this article because I want everyone to know more about the best job in the world!

What is it like to be a police officer?

You are a part of a huge family who sees things no one else sees.

What do police officers do?

They serve and protect the society by helping everyone with the law, making sure the law is followed, protect the public, detect and prevent crimes and the more important, maintaining law and order.

What do police officers do on a typical day?

They usually start with the patrol. If they already have some calls in the bank, their lieutenant will give them orders for some calls. Also, they can do replacement for another branch in the police corporation like the signaling or brigadier.

Where do police officers work?

They never work at the same place! Sometimes, they can work at the office and the rest of the time, they work anywhere in the city.

How can I become a police officer?

You need to finish your Police Technology. After, you need to apply for the ENPQ. When you are accepted at the ENPQ, you will have a 15-week formation to complete at Nicolet. When all of this is done, you will be able to try out for a job in any police station.

How much money do police officers make?

It depends because at the SPVM, a captain can make 115 000$ each year and a normal police officer can make 89 000$ each year.

What kinds of additional training do police officers need?

They only need to do the police stations formations. Each police stations have their own formations before letting any police officers work for them.

What are the dangers of being a police officer?

Anything can happen. You can get kidnapped, or you can get slap in the face. The most dangerous thing is that 86% of couples break if one of the two members is a police officer. That scares more than any arm a bad guy can do.

What are the chances that police officers will be replaced by robots soon?

They actually replaced some police officers by robots in Japan, but they only do circulations and help tourists with questions. I think the job itself needs to be done by a human. You have instinct and human decisions to do every day.

What age do police officers retire at?

You can retire at the age you want, but to have the full benefits, you need to have 30 years of duty. For the SQ, you can retire a little bit earlier, because if you do overtime, it will be counted as extra time too. So, if for example a normal week is 40 hours and in a year you have worked 400 hours in overtime, it will be as you have worked 1 year and 10-week.

Conclusion

For my part, I want to be a school police officer. It's a policeman who helps teenagers with drug addictions, violence or sexual assault. I might want to be a part of the swat team, but I am not sure right now. I want to have a family, and it's a dangerous job. I don't want my family to worry about me all the time. The real reason I do this job, is for helping people.
