Being a psychologist can be very mentally challenging. There is always a possibility for your patient to be violent. Listening to problems all day can be emotionally draining. More than that, there is this feeling of loneliness that follows you because of this isolation when you are practicing.
The chances are very low because the main goal of psychologists is to feel listened to with empathy by another human. You want to feel understood, and you want to have concrete solution by someone who heard you. Robots cannot feel empathy nor compassion, and it is impossible for them to find solutions because all of the patients are different, and they'll need personal responses and solutions.
It depends on if you work for yourself or for someone else like the government. Usually psychologists retire between 60 and 65 years old, but many of them continue to practice as psychologist long past that age. Being a psychologist doesn't require any physical effort, so it is easy to continue practicing even after 60 years old, and if you are a self-employed person you can always choose your schedule.
