To start of, this article is mainly made for people looking forward to start studying in Architecture or people that are interested to know a little bit more about what a day as an Architect would look like. This motivates me to write about this subject, because I would like to be an Architect one day.
Being an Architect is fun. It's a way to let out your creativity and making your visions come to reality.
A lot of people think that all you do as an Architect is to draw on a piece of paper a vision you got of a building, but what a lot of people don't know, Architect don't really draw a lot in the first few years. In fact, they spend most of the time in meetings with new clients, making phone calls and helping higher scaled architects.
Some Architects prefer to start early in the morning so that they get of of work early. So, a normal day will resemble this: they wake up around 6 A.m and by 7 A.m they are in their office ready to work. They then check if they got a meeting that they have to attend to. After they get back from their meetings, they're back in their office reading new emails and returning a few calls. By 11:30 A.m, it's time for a lunch break (usually at most an hour). Around 1 P.m, starting to work on a few projects and tries to finish them as soon as possible and this usually concludes the day at the office, and then they go back home.
They mostly work in an office.
To become an Architect you must complete an academic degree focused on Architecture. It can take up to five years to get a Bachelor in Architecture program, then another 2 years Master of Architecture program.
The salary depends on the experience, but they make from $75 000 to $105 000 a year.
Once they get their Bachelor and master degree they don't really have anymore training to do because the projects they receive from their clients train them to get better.
There isn't really danger being an architect, but your social life suffer from it a lot. Why would you ask? Well, many Architects say that they have to work after hours in the office so that they can meet the project deadlines.
The chance of Architect being replaced by robots is very unlikely to happen. According to Oxford University, they said that there is only 1.8% chance of this happening.
Most of Architect retire around 65 years old, maybe a little bit more or maybe a little bit less, but no matter what age they retire, they are all going to have a big acknowledgment about buildings, and they can also help young Architect with so tips and tricks that they learned along the years.
To conclude, I am on my way on becoming an Architect, and I am ready and also excited to start my career in this domain. My goal is to be a very successful Architect and I also want other people recognize me for my work and to be known as a good architect.
