Paramedics is the first medical responder of bad scenarios like accidents of the road and injuries and illnesses. They go where there is someone in need of medical care and give immediate care to the person before or in the middle of bringing the person to to hospital.
The paramedics are constantly waiting on calls to answer through a radio contact with a dispatcher in their ambulance. When they finally receive one they immediately rush to the scene where somebody requires their help and minister medical care to that person. After stabilizing the patient they bring him to the hospital and give a review of the patient's condition to the doctor or nurse that receive the patient at the hospital.
Paramedics don't have a unique place to work. Other than their assigned ambulance for the day they can work wherever there is someone injured in need of medical care. Whether it be a highway or an elementary school they go where the need is. And also, after rescuing the patient they usually bring him to the closest hospital.
Here in Quebec, to exercise the job of paramedic you need to go to a Cegep to study in Pre Hospital Care that requires a minimum of three years. Once the degree is obtained, someone can start working as a paramedic. It is also good to know that most of the training comes from the actual work experience.

After two years of working as a paramedic a recertification is needed and to get it easily, paramedics keep on learning and updating their skills' thanks to medical classes they can freely take.
Due to the extreme conditions of this career, paramedics oftentimes face dangers. Paramedics are involved in life and death situations and that requires a lot of mental strength. When mixed with the long shifts and fatigue paramedics are often times running towards a burnout or some degree of physical injury. Other than that the job is pretty safe as you are the one who ministers care not the one who is in need of.
There is no way! This job is never the same and robots couldn't adapt themselves to so many scenario paramedics faces so not for now.
For the majority of paramedics, it's after ten years of field work that they decide to quit their position for an administrative job and that whether it's and high or middle position. This gives us a picture on how harsh the conditions are and how many people leave this career unsatisfied.
In conclusion, we might have reviewed a lot of good reasons not to be a paramedic but, I think it is still a great job that me, and you still have time to fully understand and discover. I am currently waiting in impatience to start my Technique to become one. Hopefully in three years you will see me driving an ambulance.
