Educating patients is another important aspect of nursing. Sharing knowledge about health, and ways to stay healthy, can have a very positive effect on a patient's life.

Depending on what department nurses work in, these tasks will vary. However, the primary role of nurses is to assess a patient. Of course, they have to do the head to toe assessment, do the physical exams, give the medication and do the patient education.

You have to do three years of cegep, and you have to pass the OIIQ exam to become a nurse. There after, it is possible to become a baccalaureate nurse (clinician) by doing two years of university. It is also possible to extend by doing two years of master's degree and thus become a nurse practitioner

In conclusion, the field of nursing is a wonderful field in my eyes, and I am impatiently awaiting the moment when I will officially be able to say that I am a nurse and not just a student. However, as said before, I still have several steps to climb before reaching my ultimate goal, which is a nurse practitioner.
