Hi, my name is Lory-Ann I go to Thetford Mines College. I have been studying in Tremplin DEC for almost 1 year (4 semesters). When I finish school, I would like to be either a teacher. Firs thing first, when you are a teacher you need to be mindset that you will help other learn new things. The majority of the teachers is appointed to a specific subject or grade level.
The main goal of a teacher's work is to help the children to learn things, either about life or for general knowledge. It can be mathematics, science, history, geography, etc. They can improve their teaching by playing games, or doing some activities.Teachers also have tasks to complete, you can know more about them in "What do teachers do on a typical day?".
Usually, the day of a teacher starts with building a plan before their classes. Around 8 a.m., when the kids come in the classroom, they need to get their attention. With games, activities or crafts, they can easily captivate the student's attention, and at the same time teach. Later on, the teachers has to do paperwork. They have a special period called a professional period, to get the paperwork done. They have another task which is called administrative duties. This task means that each teacher needs to, either spend one period at the school library, or watching the children at the cafeteria. The teachers need to be accessible for the parents, some of them might want to have a meeting with the teacher after class, others prefer to have a progress report. In short, the job of a teacher is not only to be in front of a class and talk.
Teachers usually work in schools such as prekindergarten, elementary school, high school, college, and university. However, a big part of their planning is done at home. In short, teachers work at school, and at home.
To become a teacher, you need to get a college degree. You can receive your bachelor's degree for elementary or secondary in five years. In an area of specialization, teachers take 24 to 36 credits, and for teaching courses, they take 18 to 24 credit. The fifth year is assigned to teaching. If you are a postgraduate teacher, you can go back in school to complete a master degree in teaching.
It depends on were you live, and what subject or level you teach. Based on monster.com, in the United States, a Preschool teacher is hourly estimate to earn around $41,635. An Elementary teacher will obtain $43,039/hr. However, a substitute teacher will collect $30,807/hr. Middle and High school teacher is hourly estimate to make $44,859. These are the median salary for teachers, but as I said teachers salary depends on the place they are engaged, and the subject they are teaching.
Teachers need to get group management or/and parent management training. They can also have two or more subject to teach, they might have "training" about them too. Besides, they need to deal with the student difference personalities, they might as well, need to be coach on this. As I said earlier, teachers need to accomplish paperwork, even if it's a part of their job, they need to get special study according to how to do it well. These are some of the training teachers need to get, it can vary depending on if they teach Prekindergarten, elementary School, High School, etc., and determined on what they had already learned, it can vary.
Being a teacher is not as easy as it seems. Teachers need to deal with all the students different personalities, and abilities. Sometimes teacher just burn-out. Struggling with the main job, and their tasks, and the students, is a harder than we think, and teachers need to deal with the student's parents! Fresh new teachers might plan to remain for like five years, but unfortunately the burn-out average is really high, and they no longer stay as much as they use too... The danger of being a teacher is more about mental health.
This question is really debatable, but it had always brought us to the same conclusion : robots could not replace at a 100% a teacher's place. As it has been said in this article (https://tech.af/will-robots-replace-teachers/), Anthony Seldon (vice-chancellor of the University of Buckingham) predicts that robots will replace teachers by 2027, but on the opposite, Matthew Longtin (a professional writer at Pro.Papers) said that technology cannot replace humans encouragement and support. Each of the robots, and the teachers, can bring some advantages and some drawbacks to education, although, the chances that robots might replace teacher are not that high for the moment.

As you can see, being a teacher requires, a university certificate, on the job training, trainee, you need to love working with the kids (if you work at Prekindergarten or Elementary School) or teenagers (if it's in High School). It also requires, patience, good management, and structure.
