If you have ever thought of being an orthotist prosthetist, this is the article for you. Or if you don't know what this job is, this article is also for you. I wrote this text because I think that this job should be known more by people. The most people I say that I study in orthotic and prosthetic they just think about plantar orthosis or don't even know what I'm talking about, every time it kind of, annoyed me because I think it would be great for people to know that we exist for so much more than that.
It's like being an engineer of the human body
We do orthosis so like plantar, knee or wrist and also prothestis for missing legs or arms.
You have appointments with patients, and you can also make the making of your orthotics or prosthesis
You can work in a private clinic like Médicus, Équilibre, etc. At the hospital or in a rehabilitation institute
In Quebec, you have to do the technical program in orthotics and prosthetics at Montmorency College or Mérici College, and that's it!
You can make about $45 000 to $50 000 the year
You can take specialization course that are given by companies like mediven for compression socks, or amera for post-mastectomie
The worst that could happen is to cut yourself with an exact-o
For the making part it's possible, but for the human part which is the evaluation and the social touch it couldn't happen
Around 65 years old
As you can see this job is very large and need to be known more
