To be a coach is to teach athletic skills, to provide generalized fitness training, and train athletes to perform in physical and competitive environments. A coach is someone who will assist athletes in developing to their full potential. They are responsible for training athletes in a sport by analyzing their performances, instructing in relevant skills and by providing encouragement. But you are also responsible for the guidance of the athlete in life and their chosen sport.
Coach will lead is team to the victory by teaching them several important things that athletes will be able to use during the rest of their sporting career or their life in general. The role of the coach will be many and varied, from instructor, assessor, friend, mentor, facilitator, chauffeur, demonstrator, adviser, supporter, fact finder, motivator, counselor, organizer, planner and other things to always help the athlete.
Coaches can work in gyms to train people and help them to get better and a stronger person. Or some coach can only work with a sport team. We can find teams in arenas, in office or in school program. So they can work everywhere in a gym, or in office to plan their weeks.
First to become a coach, you need to choose the sport that you would love and like to coach and a sport you are passionate about. The second thing is to get a bachelor's or master's degree (Degree in Physical Education, Fitness, Training, Coaching and Sport Science), after this you will gather practical experience of this job and what will allow to get you're coaching license and you're teacher license.
Coaches salaries vary depending on their experience, training, level of education and the specific field they are coaching. The salary depend also on the employer and the athlete being coached. If you reach the professional coaching the salary can be very high. So a typical salary in the U.S. per exemple is 15.90$ per hour, but some can go from 14.24$ to 32.63 per hour.
In Quebec, I know that Hockey Quebec offers training to become a coach and perfect this job. These are courses that are mandatory every year to always improve things and improve our level.
There is no real danger in being a coach, only that there is a risk that an indoor physical trainer or a team coach will be fired for poor performance by an individual or team in general.
I do not believe that a coach will be able to be replaced by robots. Because they are very important in terms of motivation, interaction with athletes. So that's why I don't believe they are replaced by machines. But, technologies are always advancing to advance research in sport, which can become interesting tools for coaches.
There is no real age for a coach to retire. As soon as he feels that he is no longer really passionate or feels tired at any age he can retire.
Next year I will go to university to start my school career to become a sports coach. My goal is to try one day to work for a professional team regardless of the sport, but a greater preference for hockey. I will have to practice myself for eventually become a coach and this could be at least 10 or more years.
