Agreement rules to remember

RULE: Remember that with the "existential there," the verb must agree with the noun that follows.

There are good reasons to move out.
There is too much noise.

RULE: When you use an ordinal number (first, second, third, etc.), the noun that follows should be singular, unless you specify how many with a cardinal number:

The first reason is that the rent is too high.
The second two reasons are the noise and the size.

RULE: In the present simple tense, do not add s to the end of the verb when you use a plural subject. This includes the plural subject of a relative clause.

People love to eat fatty food.
The desire for fat comes from genes that regulate appetite.

RULE: In the present simple tense, add verb + s to the end of the verb when you use the pronouns he/she/it.
